About Me

My interest in nutrition started when I was pushing weights in the gym, trying to come up with the perfect diet and supplement regime that would turn me into a successful bodybuilder.  When I was nearing the point that I could have walked on stage for my first bodybuilding competition, I was diagnosed with gastric cancer.

After undergoing a total gastrectomy my interest in nutrition took a turn to a totally different direction. Learning to eat again, without a stomach, can do that.

Being diagnosed with cancer made me rethink what was important in my life, what did I want to do with my life?    It took a number of years, but I eventually found my calling and I started studying a Bachelor of Health Science - Nutritional Medicine degree, of which I am coming into my final year.
Yes I'm still learning, questioning, and have a passion for searching for the answers and I will continue to do so, long after I graduate.

My transition from getting the majority of the information about nutrition from marketing and advertising to now getting the information from well researched studies is still fresh.  I cringe everyday when I see advertising stating this or that is healthy, when the facts tend to disagree. I will clear up some of this misinformation in my blogs.

I will keep the information relevant, useful and fun.  I'll share recipes and get my hands messy, I won't ask you to try anything I haven't tried, and trust me if I can make it anyone can!!
I'll tell you all about the disasters too.

So welcome, enjoy and have fun!  But firstly some important housekeeping, please have a read of the statement below....
